How to: Barbell Knee Raise Step-up

    1. Stand facing a bench or platform with your feet hip-width apart and a barbell across your shoulders.
    2. Step up onto the platform with one foot, driving your knee up towards your chest as you stand tall.
    3. Lower back down to the starting position with control, keeping the weight balanced on the platform.
    4. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions and then switch legs.

    Common Mistakes

    • Leaning forward, which can strain the lower back.
    • Not fully extending the stepping leg.
    • Using too much weight without proper form.

    Modifications

    • Perform the exercise with a lower platform to reduce difficulty.
    • Use lighter weights if new to the movement.

    Tips

    • Maintain a straight back throughout the movement.
    • Engage your core to stabilize your torso while performing the step-up.
