How to: Lateral Step-up with Knee Drive
Begin standing beside a step or sturdy platform with your feet hip-width apart.
Step laterally onto the platform with one foot, pressing through your heel.
Drive your opposite knee up towards your chest as you step.
Lower your knee back down with control and step back down to the floor.
Repeat the movement for the desired number of repetitions before switching sides.
Common Mistakes
Leaning too far forward during the knee drive.
Not fully extending the stepping leg.
Not keeping the supporting knee aligned with the toes.
Modifications
Use a lower step initially to build strength and confidence.
Perform the exercise without the knee drive for a simpler variation.
Tips
Keep your core engaged throughout the exercise.
Drive your knee up high to maximize hip flexor engagement.
Ensure your stepping foot is fully on the platform before driving the knee.
