    How to: Lying Hip Flexor

    1. Lie down with one leg extended straight and the other leg bent.
    2. Pull the bent knee closer to the chest to feel a stretch in the hip flexor of the extended leg.
    3. Keep your hips pressed down into the ground while gently pushing your lower back into the surface.
    4. Hold this position to stretch the hip flexor.

    Common Mistakes

    • Not holding the stretch long enough.
    • Allowing the lower back to arch excessively.
    • Rushing through the stretch.

    Modifications

    • Use a towel or mat under the knee for comfort.
    • Perform the stretch while sitting if lying down is uncomfortable.

    Tips

    • Keep your back straight and avoid arching your lower back.
    • Breathe deeply and relax into the stretch.
    • Hold the stretch for at least 20-30 seconds for best results.
