How to: Lying Hip Flexor
Lie down with one leg extended straight and the other leg bent.
Pull the bent knee closer to the chest to feel a stretch in the hip flexor of the extended leg.
Keep your hips pressed down into the ground while gently pushing your lower back into the surface.
Hold this position to stretch the hip flexor.
Common Mistakes
Not holding the stretch long enough.
Allowing the lower back to arch excessively.
Rushing through the stretch.
Modifications
Use a towel or mat under the knee for comfort.
Perform the stretch while sitting if lying down is uncomfortable.
Tips
Keep your back straight and avoid arching your lower back.
Breathe deeply and relax into the stretch.
