    How to: Lean Forward Stretch

    1. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart.
    2. Take a step forward with one foot, keeping the other foot stationary.
    3. Bend the front knee while keeping the back leg straight.
    4. Lean forward gently to feel a stretch in the hip flexors of the back leg.
    5. Hold the position for 15-30 seconds, then switch legs.

    Common Mistakes

    • Hunching the back instead of keeping it straight.
    • Not holding the stretch long enough to be effective.
    • Rushing into the stretch without proper warm-up.

    Modifications

    • Use a cushion under the knees if needed for comfort.
    • Perform the stretch seated if standing is difficult.

    Tips

    • Keep your back straight while leaning forward.
    • Breathe deeply and relax into the stretch.
    • Do not rush the movement; only stretch as far as comfortable.
