How to: Single Leg Step Up on Bench

    1. Stand facing a bench or step.
    2. Place one foot on the bench, ensuring the entire foot is on it.
    3. Push through the heel of the foot on the bench to step up.
    4. Lift your body up until your leg is fully extended.
    5. Lower back down with control, ensuring your knee does not extend past your toes.

    Common Mistakes

    • Letting the knee cave inward during the step-up.
    • Not fully extending the working leg before lowering back down.
    • Using momentum instead of controlled movement.

    Modifications

    • Use a lower step or platform for beginners.
    • Hold onto a railing or wall for support.

    Tips

    • Keep your knee aligned with your toes during the movement.
    • Focus on using your glutes to push up and lower down.
