    How to: Barbell Lying extension

    1. Lie on a flat bench with a barbell held over your head with arms extended.
    2. Keep your elbows stationary and close to your ears.
    3. Slowly lower the barbell towards your forehead until your elbows reach a 90-degree angle.
    4. Push the barbell back up to the starting position while squeezing your triceps.

    Common Mistakes

    • Letting elbows flare out too much.
    • Using too much weight and sacrificing form.
    • Not fully extending the arms.

    Modifications

    • Use a lighter weight to maintain proper form if struggling.
    • Perform the exercise with a single arm using a dumbbell if necessary.

    Tips

    • Keep your elbows close to your head to maximize triceps engagement.
    • Don't allow the bar to drop too low; maintain control throughout the movement.
    • Exhale on exertion and inhale on descent.
