    How to: Step up

    1. Stand in front of a step or platform, with your feet shoulder-width apart.
    2. Place one foot firmly on the step, ensuring your heel is planted.
    3. Push through your heel and step up onto the platform, bringing your other foot up to meet it.
    4. Step back down with the foot you just stepped up with and then follow with the other foot.
    5. Repeat the movement for the desired number of repetitions.

    Common Mistakes

    • Leaning forward excessively.
    • Not fully extending the leg on the step-up.
    • Using momentum instead of muscle strength.

    Modifications

    • Use a lower step for a more accessible version.
    • Hold onto a wall or sturdy surface for balance support.

    Tips

    • Keep your back straight while stepping up.
    • Make sure your entire foot is on the elevated surface.
    • Use your heel to press through to lift your body.
