How to: Cable Bar Lateral Pulldown

    1. Adjust the cable pulley to a high position and select the desired weight.
    2. Sit down with your feet flat on the ground and grasp the bar with a wide grip.
    3. Pull the bar down towards your chest, while keeping your elbows close to your body.
    4. Squeeze your shoulder blades together at the bottom of the movement.
    5. Slowly return to the starting position, fully extending your arms.

    Common Mistakes

    • Pulling with the arms instead of engaging the back muscles.
    • Allowing the shoulders to shrug up towards the ears.
    • Not fully extending the arms back to starting position.

    Modifications

    • Use bands instead of a cable machine for lighter resistance.
    • Perform the exercise seated to provide back support.

    Tips

    • Keep your back straight and core engaged throughout the movement.
    • Avoid using momentum; focus on controlled movement.
    • Adjust the weight according to your strength level.
