Cardio and Core Workout for Fat Loss
Low-impact cardio intervals paired with core training, three sessions a week. Steady heart rate, clean technique, no equipment needed.
Routines
Day 1 — Intervals & Core A
Move through the circuit. Rest ~30s after cardio moves and ~45s after core moves. Complete 2–3 rounds.
Day 2 — Core Stability + Steady Cardio
Alternate core stability with easy cardio. Keep breathing steady. Complete 2–3 rounds.
Day 3 — Intervals & Core B
Slightly longer cardio bursts with rotational core. Complete 2–3 rounds.
About this plan
Three sessions a week alternating low-impact cardio blocks with core work, three sets of most things, no equipment.
Day one runs low jacks, mountain climbers, dead bugs, bicycle crunches, marching at fifty reps and leg raises. Day two covers bird dogs, plank arm lifts, standing side crunches, marching at sixty, low jacks and more. Day three is mountain climbers at twenty-four, Russian twists, flutter kicks, dead bugs, jack steps and high-knee taps.
The pairing has a practical logic. Core exercises do not raise the heart rate much on their own, and continuous cardio does not train the trunk. Alternating them means twenty-five minutes covers both, and the core sets double as the recovery interval between cardio blocks.
The cardio here is deliberately low impact — low jacks, marching, jack steps, high-knee taps. Nothing leaves the floor. That makes this the fat loss plan for someone carrying extra weight, which is a common starting point and the exact circumstance where jumping is least appropriate.
Marching at fifty and sixty reps is longer than it sounds. It is roughly a minute of continuous work and it is where most of the cardiovascular effect lives.
On the core side, the mix is deliberate: dead bugs and bird dogs for anti-extension, Russian twists and bicycle crunches for rotation, flutter kicks and leg raises for hip flexion. Three different jobs rather than three variations of a crunch.
As with every fat loss plan, the training supports the result and the diet produces it. Use this to keep muscle and build conditioning while the deficit does its work.
